ULTRASONIC BRONCHOFIBERVIDEOSCOPE BF-UC180F
4.4 Withdrawal of the endoscope
If unexpected blood adhesion on the surface of the insertion
section is observed after withdrawal, carefully check the
condition of the patient.
Observe the endoscopic image or the ultrasonic image on
the monitor and confirm that the balloon deflates properly.
Otherwise, patient injury may occur.
If the balloon does not deflate even when the extension tube
is removed from the endoscope, insert the channel cleaning
brush (BW-7B) into the irrigation port to remove debris. The
balloon will be automatically deflated.
If the endoscope cannot be withdrawn from the patient
smoothly, do not attempt to forcibly withdraw it; leave it inside
the patient and immediately contact Olympus. Forcibly
withdrawing the endoscope may cause patient injury.
1. Open the 3-way stopcock.
2. Deflate the balloon by pulling the syringe’s plunger.
3. FREEZE the ultrasonic image.
4. Carefully withdraw the endoscope while observing the endoscopic image.
5. Remove the mouthpiece from the patient’s mouth.
6. Remove the balloon from the transducer as described in Section 4.5,
“Removal of the balloon” and discard it.
