  Your Olympus Digital Camera might not be working because it is switched off. To resolve this, set the Mode dial to any setting other than "OFF" to switch the camera on. Alternatively, the batteries may be loaded incorrectly; reload them correctly. Cold temperatures can also reduce battery performance, so warm the batteries in your pocket before loading them. The sleep mode function may have shut the camera down; use the shutter button or the zoom lever to wake it. Also, the camera will not operate while connected to a personal computer. Finally, ensure the lens cap is removed, then switch the camera off and on again.

The camera might be switched off, or the flash hasn't finished charging; release the shutter button and wait until the green or orange lamp stops blinking. If you've just finished shooting in movie mode and the card access lamp is blinking, wait until it stops before shooting again. The card might be full; replace it, delete unwanted pictures, or transfer data to a computer. If symbols disappear from the viewfinder/monitor and the battery icon blinks, replace the batteries. Lastly, if the memory gauge indicates the memory is full, wait until there is space available in the buffer memory.

If the subject is too close, use Macro mode for subjects 7.9" to 31.5" (2.6 ft) from the camera, otherwise use normal shooting mode. If using Self-timer mode, look through the viewfinder, not while standing in front of the camera, or use the remote control. Finally, ensure you use the correct focal distance for manual focus shots.

  The flash on your Olympus Digital Camera might not be firing because the flash mode is set to "Flash Off"; change the flash mode, noting that the flash cannot be used in Sequence or Panorama mode. If the subject is brightly lit, set the flash mode to "Forced Flash" to force it to fire. Also, if " ", "AF " or "BKT" is selected as the drive mode, switch to a single-shot mode. If the camera is set to Panorama mode, deactivate it. Finally, the flash does not fire when "WHITE BOARD" or "BLACK BOARD" is selected in the FUNCTION setting.
