Chapter 3 Preparation and inspection before observation
Attaching the hook to the spring shaft
WARNING
Be careful in handling the hook assembly so as not to avoid contact with your eye.
CAUTION
Do not use the hook once detached from the spring shaft.
The hook is replaceable. To attach hook to the spring shaft, follow the procedure
below.
CAUTION
If the hook is attached incorrectly, it can easily fall off. Read the following procedure carefully
before trying to attach the hook.
1 Check the screw thread at the distal end of the spring shaft. If the
end screws rattle or are misaligned, do not use the spring shaft and
use spare parts instead.
2 While gripping A in figure below with pliers, push the hook straight
over the spring shaft until it stops.
CAUTION
After the hook hits the butting position, do not try to screw it in any further. Otherwise, hook
and the screw thread at the distal end of the spring shaft may be damaged.
Do not loosen the hook once it is attached to the spring shaft. If the hook is loose, replace it
with a new one. A loose hook can easily fall off.
