1. Inspect the sterile package for tears, inadequate sealing or water damage. If
the sterile package show any irregularities, the sterile condition of the
instrument may have been compromised. Use a spare instead.
2. Inspect the Biopsy Valve for cracks or other damage.
Inspection of the Biopsy Valve
Inspect the Biopsy Valve (MD-495) for damage (see Figure 3.5).

• Biopsy Valve (MD-495) is included with endoscopes shipped
to the UK and all other countries where the Single-use Biopsy
Valve (MAJ-210) is not included.
• If using a valve which is provided non-sterile, sterilize it
according to the Recommended ETO Gas Exposure
Parameters given in the “OLYMPUS ENF/LF ENDOSCOPE
REPROCESSING MANUAL”.
