How to fix invisible or dark field of view with mercury burner on Olympus Laboratory Equipment?

If the field of view seen through the eye-pieces of your Olympus Laboratory Equipment is invisible or dark, even though the mercury burner illumination is on, there are a few possible reasons. Check if an ND filter is engaged in the light path and set the filter slider to the open position. Also, verify that the fluorescent mirror is properly engaged in the light path. Ensure that the shutter is not engaged in the light path and set the filter slider to the open position.
