Current amplifier CMA 56
20
3 Design and Operation
3.1 Modules
The amplifier of the CMA 56 current amplifier is isolated from its controller
(CMC test device) via an isolation amplifier. This isolation amplifier passes the
received signals to a module for signal processing.
The corrected signals (by signal processing) are then passed to the outputs
1-3 at the front panel via the three-phase amplifiers.
A module for self-testing and monitoring carries a hardware test out when it is
switched ON and continuously detects the internal temperature of the
amplifier. This facility automatically switches the amplifier OFF in the case of
overheating.
Furthermore, this module is used to detect an overburden condition or
overcurrent at the outputs of the CMA 56.
The information about the current operating state of the CMA 56 is displayed
via the LED display on the front panel.
A communication interface is used to communicate with the controlling CMC.
