Why is there no audio or video signal on my display device via HDMI cable with my Onkyo Blu-ray Player?
    • P
      Patrick WilliamsAug 28, 2025
If you're not getting audio or video via HDMI, it could be due to several reasons. If the unit is connected to an unauthorized display device, the signal may not be output. Try performing an HDMI cable hotplug: disconnect the HDMI cable from both the TV and the unit, then reconnect it while both devices are powered on. Ensure your HDMI cable is certified. Also, if “HDMI Output” is set to “AV Split (Main:V, Sub:A)”, the video signal outputs from the HDMI OUT MAIN jack, and the audio signal outputs from the HDMI OUT SUB jack.

What to do if my Onkyo BD-SP809 Blu-ray Player remote control is not working?
    • E
      Eric SingletonAug 27, 2025
If the remote control isn't working, make sure the unit is connected to the power outlet and that you are pointing the remote control directly at the unit. Also, check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity or try inserting new batteries.
  • T
    Terry OsbornAug 26, 2025
Why is there no sound or picture on my Onkyo Blu-ray Player?
    • M
      Melissa ColeAug 27, 2025
There could be several reasons for this. First, ensure the connected TV is turned on and that all connections are securely and correctly made. If you're using a video cable, the copyright protection system might be interfering; try connecting the unit directly to the TV with an HDMI cable. Also, check that the connected TV or device supports HDCP, as the unit won't output video without it. Confirm that the output format of the Blu-ray player (HDMI FORMAT) matches the supported input format of the connected device. As a last resort, press and hold [B (play)] on the front panel for 5 seconds to reset the settings to default.

What to do if my Onkyo BD-SP809 has no power?
    • S
      Steven PorterAug 26, 2025
First, verify that the AC cord is properly connected. If it is, unplug the AC cord, wait 5 to 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
