The
following
explanation
assumes
that
cassette
side

is
facing
outward.
Due
to
the
location
of
the
photo
sensor,
the
transparent
leader
must
go
by
the
heads
before
being
detected
for
reverse-to-forward
switching.
As
a
result,
the
silent
gap
is
about
one
second
longer
than
the
forward-to-reverse
switching
gap.
