3.3 STARTING A CP OR A PP TEST
(requires AirSTAR CPPP Head)
1. Make sure that the ColdBlock is installed and switched on as described in
Chapter 1.2. The iLab app should be opened and on the default “Tasks”
menu.
2. Make sure that the CPPP Head is assembled as described in Chapter 1.4. The
CPPP Head should be placed in the ColdBlock.
3. In the iLab app (in Tasks Menu, see Chapter 1.2.8-d) the unit should now
say “Idle”. Alternatively, it might say “Preparing”, which means that the
ColdBlock is now building a buffer for high cooling performance. This status
may take up to 10 minutes, after which “Idle” will appear. In case it says
“Offline”, check whether the iPad’s WiFi is connected to the AirSTAR’s
network (name is Bath”xxx”, password AirST*R_ColdBlock). Or see
Troubleshooting (Chapter 10).
4. Press “Precool” to prepare the cooling bath. It commands the bath jacket to
go to the first bath step set in the program settings. Note: when the first
step is a warming step, “precool” actually functions as “preheat”.
5. Sample preparation: Take CPPP Head in one hand and detach jar with other
hand. Place the CPPP Head in the ColdBlock or Docking station while filling
the jar with sample.
6. Fill jar with sample up to the ring mark.
7. Re-attach jar in CPPP Head.
8. Place CPPP Head in ColdBlock.
9. Press the Sample ID field and enter sample ID.
Tip 1: press the “X” to quickly remove the old sample ID.
Tip 2: it is possible to change the sample ID during the entire test, but not
after the test has finished.
10. Press+Hold the Method field and select the desired method from the drop
down menu. Note that by default the last used method will be selected for
the next test. No need to change this method when continuously working
with the same method.
