6.2 COLDBLOCK CALIBRATION
Requires:
- Ethanol (200ml) Not supplied by ORBIS BV.
- Thermometer for bath calibration “Type Testo 735”. Not supplied by ORBIS BV.
- Class A PT-100 Probe for Testo 735 thermometer. Testo Part # 06091273.
Not supplied by ORBIS BV.
- Thermometer holder for bath calibration. Orbis BV part number 929027.
General description for ColdBlock calibration:
Calibration of the bath is performed by offsetting the readout of the 2
temperature sensors (low and high zone inside the bath jacket) on 8
temperature points and in following order: 65 ºC, 25 ºC, 0 ºC, -34 ºC, -51 ºC, -
67 ºC, -87 ºC and -105 ºC.
Step 1. Preparation
Prior to starting the calibration, the bath jacket should be filled with ethanol, up
to 0,5 cm below the rim of the bath jacket.
NOTE: When the ethanol becomes colder it shrinks, and the surface will be lower. For a proper
calibration, refill the ethanol to the required level after completing each temperature point. After
the calibration is finished and the bath warms up, the ethanol will expand. To prevent overflow,
an amount of methanol should be removed before heating up.
Step 2. In the System > Service > Temperature menu (of the bath), either the
calibration data from a previous calibration are displayed (image 27), or the
calibration data field is empty (image 28).
Step 3. A new calibration can be performed with the previous calibration as a
starting point. Alternatively, any previous calibration data can be deleted by
pressing “RESET”. In this manual, it is assumed that the “RESET” option is
chosen so that the calibration begins with an empty record.
