Overview

This document provides comprehensive operating instructions, safety precautions, and maintenance guidelines for a Panasonic fully automatic drum washing machine designed for household use.

Function Description

The Panasonic washing machine is designed to efficiently clean various types of laundry using a drum-based washing system. It offers multiple programs tailored to different fabric types and soil levels, including Cotton, Intensive, Synthetic, Delicates, Down Jacket, Bedding, Mixed, and Colored programs. Users can also select specialized functions like Soak, Extra Rinse, Prewash, Easy Iron, and Eco to customize their wash cycles. The machine features adjustable settings for water temperature and spin speed, allowing for optimal care of diverse garments. A "Tub Clean" function is included to maintain the cleanliness of the drum, ensuring hygienic washing conditions. The machine also incorporates a "Preset" function, enabling users to schedule the end time of their wash cycles, offering convenience and flexibility. For safety, a "Child Lock" function is available to prevent accidental changes to settings during operation.

Usage Features

Initial Setup and Placement: Before first use, it is crucial to ensure the washing machine is placed on a flat, stable surface to prevent excessive vibration and noise. The appliance requires a space of at least 64 cm wide, with specific clearances around it (2 cm on sides, 5 cm on top, 3 cm on back). It must be connected to an independent, dedicated household socket rated at 10A, 220-240V, with a reliable ground wire. All packaging materials, including foam cushions and anchor bolts used for transport, must be removed before operation to prevent damage. The bottom plate should be installed, and the machine's feet adjusted to ensure it is level.

Connecting Water and Drain Hoses: The water inlet hose needs to be securely connected to both the machine's inlet valve and a water tap, ensuring no leaks. The drain hose should be positioned within 1m from the ground to prevent siphoning and fixed to prevent displacement. It's important not to obstruct the drain hole or immerse the drain hose end in drained water to avoid backflow. The water pressure for the washing machine should be between 0.03-1MPa.

Laundry Preparation: Proper laundry preparation is key to effective washing and garment care. Users should sort laundry by color, fabric type, and soil level, referring to clothing care labels. Pre-treatment of local stains (collars, gussets, sludge, solid stains) using appropriate removers or detergents is recommended. Delicate items, bras with metal wires, tights, lace clothing, and small items should be placed in a laundry net to prevent damage. Before loading, check for sharp objects like hairpins or screws, close zippers, and turn clothing with raised fabrics inside out. For clothes prone to fluff, turn them inside out. Wool and nylon items should be hung out of direct heat or sunlight after washing to help them retain shape and reduce ironing time.

Loading Laundry and Detergent: For bedding programs, only one blanket should be washed at a time, folded into a quarter of its original size and placed flat into the drum. Detergent and softener should be added to their respective compartments in the detergent drawer, following recommended amounts based on laundry soil, amount, and water hardness. Liquid detergents are recommended for delicates and cotton programs, while low-foam soap powder is advised for powdered detergents. It's important to ensure no detergent blocks form in the compartment. Concentrated softeners should be diluted and added up to the maximum marked amount.

Operating the Machine: To start a wash cycle, press the "Power" button, select the desired program using the program selection knob, and then choose any additional functions (Soak, Extra Rinse, Prewash, Easy Iron, Eco) and settings (water temperature, spin speed). The "Start/Pause" button initiates or temporarily halts the program. The display shows the remaining time. For timed operations, the "Preset" button allows scheduling the wash cycle's end time. The "Child Lock" function can be activated by pressing and holding the "Water Temp" and "Spin Speed" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds after the operation has started.

Safety Precautions during Operation: Users must ensure the door is properly closed and no laundry is caught in the door seal. Overloading the machine can cause excessive vibrations or damage. Flammable chemicals or clothing soaked in them should be kept away from the machine to prevent explosions or fire. Water should not be directly applied to the machine during cleaning. Waterproof sheets and garments should not be washed, rinsed, or spun, as this can cause personal injury or machine damage due to vibrations. Climbing or placing heavy objects on the machine is prohibited.

Maintenance Features

Machine Body: The machine body should be cleaned using a soft cloth and a mild detergent (e.g., kitchen detergent or soap water). Avoid spraying water directly onto the machine body or using harsh cleaning agents like abstergent, thinner, alcohol, or kerosene, as these can cause fire or deformation.

Detergent Container: The detergent container should be periodically cleaned to prevent residual detergent buildup and bacterial growth. To clean, pull out the container, press down on the middle of the softener cover to remove it, then remove the softener cover itself. Wash out detergent residue with water and wipe the machine's interior with a dry cloth. Reattach the softener cover and container.

Door Glasses and Door Gaskets: After each use, remove any objects from the door gasket. Wipe the door glass and gasket with a dry, soft cloth to remove debris and dirt. Keep the door open for ventilation and drying if needed.

Pump Filter: The pump filter needs regular cleaning to prevent blockages. To access it, remove the power plug, press the two clasps to pull out the service board. Place a saucer under the filter, then rotate the filter to the left to discharge residual water. Clean the residue and dirt from the pump filter and confirm that the pump behind the filter is not blocked. Reassemble the filter and service panel, then check for water leaks.

Filter Mesh of Water Inlet Valve: Periodically remove and clean the filter mesh of the water inlet valve to prevent dirt and stains from clogging it. First, turn off the water tap, switch on the appliance, select the "Cotton" program, and press "Start/Pause." After 1 minute, turn off the machine to drain water from the inlet hose. Disconnect the inlet hose, remove it, and clean the filter mesh with a small brush. Reconnect the hose, turn on the water tap, and check for leaks.

Preventing Frozen Water Inlet & Drain Hoses: If the washing machine is delivered in freezing conditions, allow it to sit at room temperature for 24 hours before use. If the water supply hose freezes, wrap warm towels around the joints of the water inlet hose and add 2-3 liters of warm water to the drum. Then, run the "Spin" program for a few minutes.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a fault checklist with common problems, causes, and solutions, including issues like insufficient foam, excessive foam, fabric softener overflow, detergent residue, abnormal sound/vibration, and water supply/drainage problems. It also explains buzzer sounds and displayed error codes (e.g., U11 for drainage issues, U14 for water supply issues, H27 for an open door) and how to resolve them. If issues persist after troubleshooting, users are advised to contact a Panasonic-recognized service center.
