Do you have a question about the Parker Hyperchill-Plus ICEP007 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the Hyperchill - Plus (60Hz) series of industrial chillers, specifically models ICEP007, ICEP010, ICEP014, ICEP020, and ICEP024. These units are designed for professional use in industrial gas filtration and generation applications, providing cooling for various processes.

Function Description

The Hyperchill - Plus chillers are designed to provide reliable and efficient cooling. They operate by circulating a refrigerant (R407C) through a closed circuit to absorb heat from a process fluid (water or oil) and then dissipate that heat to the ambient air (air-cooled versions) or to a water circuit (water-cooled versions). The units feature a control panel for monitoring and adjusting operational parameters, ensuring precise temperature control for the application. They are available in both air-cooled (axial fans) and water-cooled versions, with options for low ambient temperature operation and a pump-less configuration.

  • IPX4 for all models.

Usage Features

The Hyperchill - Plus units are designed for user-friendly operation with a comprehensive control panel.

  • Control Panel (QS): The main switch (QS) controls the unit's power. Up and Down buttons allow adjustment of editable parameters, while the ESC button exits without saving. The SET button confirms values, navigates to the next level, or initiates the chiller.
  • Starting the Chiller: To start, turn the QS switch to "ON" and press the SET button. The desired temperature can be adjusted via the controller.
  • Phase Monitor: If an "Er23" alarm appears, check the wiring of the input terminals to the disconnector switch.
  • Pump Regulation (Water Version): Verify correct pump operation by checking the manometer and pressure limits (Pmax and Pmin). Adjust the valve output to achieve the desired pressure.
  • Antifreeze Protection: Ensure the "treated" water temperature does not fall below 41°F (5°C) and the ambient temperature does not fall below 41°F (5°C). If temperatures are too low, add the appropriate glycol solution.
  • Parameter Settings: Parameters are categorized into "Direct" (D) for immediate access and modification, and "Protected" (U) requiring a password. Key parameters include unit of measurement, remote on/off activation, Baud rate, Modbus protocol, alarm relay management, and supervisor on/off activation.
  • Temperature Control: Setpoint and differential temperature control are adjustable.
  • Compressor Parameters: Minimum "On" time, minimum time between two compressor starts, and compressor 1 hour counter.
  • Sensor Parameters (B1, B2, B3): High and low temperature alarms for water, evaporator, and ambient temperature.
  • Date/Time Setting: Allows adjustment of the internal clock for accurate logging.
  • Alarm Management: The unit logs alarms, providing historical data including alarm number, code, date, time, and sensor values at the time of the alarm.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the Hyperchill - Plus chillers.

  • General Warnings: Always disconnect power before any maintenance. Use only original spare parts to avoid voiding the warranty. In case of refrigerant leakage, contact qualified personnel. The Schrader valve should only be used for abnormal operation; incorrect charging will not be covered by warranty.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Every 6 months: Clean the condenser fins and check the compressor's current absorption against nominal values.
    • Maintenance Kits: Available kits include components for general maintenance, service, and individual spare parts.
  • Refrigerant: The unit uses R407C, a fluorinated greenhouse gas. In case of leakage, ventilate the area. Charging operations must be performed by authorized personnel.
  • Disposal: Refrigerant and lubricating oil must be recovered according to local environmental regulations before final disposal of the equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide with flowcharts to diagnose and remedy common issues such as:
    • Water outlet temperature above setpoint.
    • Compressor stopping due to high/low pressure switch intervention.
    • Excessive water flow/high thermal load.
    • Clogged refrigerant filter.
    • Insufficient water flow.
    • Discharged thermostatic bulb.
    • Maladjusted thermostatic valve.
    • Worn compressor components.
    • High ambient temperature.
    • Dirty condenser fins.
    • Blocked condenser surface.
    • Reverse fan rotation.
    • Circuit leaks/discharged system.
  • Automatic Restart: In case of power interruption, the chiller will resume its previous On-Off state once power is restored.
