11.10. Defect: Ignition
Cause of Defect
a - Spark plugs defective
b - Improper connection of
the ignition cables
to the spark plugs
c - Magneto distributor
cap defect
d - Breaker contact damage,
improper contact gap
or dirt
e - Magneto grounding
circuit fault
Remedy
Check, clean and replace
spark plugs, if required
Check for correctconnection
and correct, as required
Cleam, dry. replace,
if defective
Clean breaker contacts,
replace and adjust contact
gap, as required
Check for correct wiring
11.11. Defect: Electrical Accessories
Cause of Defect Remedy

Alternator not charging Check brushes and replace,
if required
Check rotor winding for
continuity (by means of an
ohmmeter, circuit tester
etc. Alternator rotor
replacement
Check for correct
connection of leads
b ~ Starter inoperative
Check brushes and replace,
if required
Check battery for charge
Check for correct
connection of leads
Constact manufacturer or
replace electrical
accessories, if not succeeding
in determining cause of
defect.
