Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Remedy
Camera will not
turn on
Battery is not installed Check if a battery is installed. If not, install
a battery. (p.14)
Battery is installed
incorrectly
Check orientation of the battery and
reinsert it. (p.14)
The battery is exhausted Charge the battery. (p.15)
The battery performance
has temporarily
deteriorated because it
is too cold
Warm up the battery by putting it in a
pocket where it can come in contact with
body heat.
No image on
the LCD
monitor
LCD monitor is set to Off Press OK/Display button to turn LCD
monitor on.
Image is displayed but is
hard to see
Image on LCD monitor may be hard to see
when taking pictures outside in sunlight.
Shutter will not
release
Flash is charging When flash icon blinks red on the LCD
monitor, flash is charging and no pictures
can be taken. Flash icon lights red when
charging is completed.
No available space on
SD Memory Card or in
built-in memory
Insert SD Memory Card with available space
or delete unwanted images. (p.21, 121)
Recording Wait until recording is finished.
The number of image,
movie, and sound files
recorded on the SD
Memory Card has
reached 10000.
Change SD Memory Cards or delete
unwanted files.
Picture is dark Subject is too far away in
a dark environment,
such as a night scene
Picture becomes dark if subject is too far
away. Take picture within range of flash.
Background is dark When taking a picture of a person against
a dark background, such as a night scene,
the background may appear dark if the
flash does not reach it, even with the
correct exposure. Set to A (Night Scene
mode) to ensure both person and
background are clear. (p.48, 66)
