Overview

This document describes the Philips KJ550F-D21 air disinfector, a household appliance designed for air purification.

Function Description

The Philips KJ550F-D21 is an air disinfector that uses a high-efficiency HEPA filter to capture airborne bacteria, including those in droplets and aerosolized droplet nuclei. The HEPA filter is effective against particles as small as 3nm up to several microns. Bacteria captured on the filter are naturally inactivated over time due to the lack of suitable nutrients and humidity, with active substances in the filter further accelerating this process. The device is equipped with AeraSense sensing technology to accurately detect and respond to changes in air quality, providing real-time feedback on PM2.5 levels, Indoor Allergen Index (IAI), and Gas pollution.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: Features touch buttons for power on/off, filter status/reset, light on/off, display switch, and mode switch.
  • Display Panel: Shows PM2.5 levels, Indoor Allergen Index (IAI), Gas pollution levels, Wi-Fi indicator, auto mode, turbo mode, sleep mode, filter replacement alert, and filter cleaning alert.
  • Air Quality Light: Changes color (Blue, Blue-purple, Purple-red, Red) to indicate air quality levels based on PM2.5, IAI, and Gas readings.
    • PM2.5 levels: ≤35 (Blue - Good), 36-75 (Blue-purple - Fair), 76-115 (Purple-red - Poor), >115 (Red - Very poor).
    • IAI levels: 1-3 (Blue), 4-6 (Blue-purple), 7-9 (Purple-red), 10-12 (Red).
    • Gas levels: L1 (Blue), L2 (Blue-purple), L3 (Purple-red), L4 (Red).
  • Operating Modes:
    • Auto Mode (A): Automatically adjusts fan speed based on real-time air quality detected by dual sensors.
    • Turbo Mode (@): Operates at the highest fan speed for rapid purification.
    • Sleep Mode (C): Operates quietly at a low speed, with the screen lights turning off after 3 seconds.
  • Display Indicator Switching: Users can switch between displaying PM2.5, Gas, or IAI levels by touching the display switch button. Holding the button for 3 seconds provides an explanation of the displayed level.
  • Light On/Off Function: The control panel automatically adjusts brightness or turns off based on ambient light. Users can manually turn off all lights and the control panel using the light on/off button.
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: Allows connection to a smart device via the "JD Whale" App for remote control and monitoring. The Wi-Fi indicator shows connection status (Blink/Stable in orange for smartphone connection, Blink/Stable in white for server connection, or disabled). Supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks.
  • Healthy Protection Lock: The device features a filter replacement indicator that lights up red when a filter change is needed. If the filter is not replaced in time, the air disinfector will stop operating and lock automatically to protect air quality.
  • Filter Reset: After replacing the filter, the filter lifetime counter must be manually reset by holding the filter status/reset button for 3 seconds. A similar process is used to reset the filter cleaning time after cleaning the filter surface.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning Schedule:
    • When necessary: Wipe the fabric part with a damp cloth, plastic part with a soft, dry cloth, and clean the air outlet cover.
    • Every two months: Clean the particle sensor with a dry cotton swab.
    • When filter cleaning alert displays: Clean the surface of the filter.
  • Cleaning the Body: Regularly clean the inside and outside of the air disinfector with a damp cloth for the fabric surface and a soft, dry cloth for plastic parts and the air outlet. The fabric cover is not removable. Avoid hot water, alcohol, or harsh cleaners.
  • Cleaning the Particle Sensor: Clean every 2 months for optimal performance using a damp cotton swab, then thoroughly dry. The gas sensor does not require cleaning.
  • Cleaning the Filter Surface: When prompted by the filter cleaning alert, remove the filter and clean its surface with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Replacing the Filter: When the filter replacement alert lights up red, the NanoProtect filter Pro S3 (FY4150/01) needs to be replaced. Filters are not washable or reusable.
