This document provides a quick guide for the Planmeca Compact™ i Classic dental unit, detailing its patient chair, dental unit, and instrument controls, as well as programming functionalities.
Patient Chair Control
The patient chair control panel and foot control allow for precise positioning of the patient chair.
Control Panel Features:
- Chair to autoposition A, B, C, D: Short activation moves the chair to a pre-programmed position.
- Backrest down/up: Long activation adjusts the backrest.
- Chair up/down: Long activation moves the entire chair up or down.
- Chair to rinsing position: Short activation moves the chair to a rinsing position when the LED is OFF.
- Chair to previous position: Short activation returns the chair to the previous position when the LED is ON.
- Chair to rinsing position only: Long activation moves the chair to the rinsing position without returning to the previous position.
Flexy Button:
- Chair to rinsing position: A dedicated button for moving the chair to the rinsing position.
Foot Control Features:
The foot control mirrors many of the panel functions for hands-free operation.
- Chair to autoposition A, B, C, D: Short activation.
- Backrest down/up: Long activation.
- Chair to rinsing position: Dedicated button.
Programming Patient Chair Autoposition Settings:
- Move chair to required position: Manually adjust the chair to the desired position.
- Switch operating light On/Off: Toggle the operating light.
- Start programming: Initiate the programming sequence.
- Press desired button: Select the A, B, C, or D button on the control panel to store the chair position.
- Accept new autoposition: Confirm the new setting.
Dental Unit Control
The dental unit control panel and foot control manage various functions related to the dental unit's operation.
Control Panel Features:
- Bowl rinse: Short activation.
- Cup fill and bowl rinse: 2x short activation or 0.5-1 sec. activation.
- Cup fill as long as pressed: Long activation.
- Door open / assistant call function for preprogrammed time: Short activation.
- Door open / assistant call function as long as pressed: Long activation.
- Operating light On ▶ Off: Short activation toggles the light.
- Intensity of operating light: Long activation adjusts the intensity.
- Maintenance procedure:
- Short flushing: 3 sec. activation.
- Long flushing: 6 sec. activation.
Foot Control Features:
The foot control provides access to preprogrammed unit functions, including:
- Door open / assistant call function for preprogrammed time: Short activation.
- Door open / assistant call function as long as pressed: Long activation.
- Bowl rinse: Short activation.
- Cup fill and bowl rinse: 2x short activation or 0.5-1 sec. activation.
- Cup fill as long as pressed: Long activation.
Programming Unit Settings:
- Start programming: Initiate the programming sequence.
- Select function*: Choose from available unit functions:
- Duration of cup filling: 2 - 10 sec.
- Duration of bowl rinsing: 5 - 240 sec.
- Duration of door open/assistant call signal: 0 - 250 sec.
- Adjust value: Modify the selected function's parameter.
- Accept new value: Confirm the new setting.
Programming Planmeca Solanna Operating Light Settings:
- Start programming: Initiate the programming sequence.
- Select operating light: Choose the operating light.
- Adjust/select value**: Modify the operating light's parameters:
- Intensity: 30 - 100%.
- White light tone: Warm > Neutral > Cool.
- Maximum brightness: Mild > Strong > Glaring.
- Accept new value: Confirm the new setting.
Instrument Control
The control panel and foot control manage various dental instruments.
Control Panel Features (Unit controlled instrument activated):
- Micromotor or turbine:
- Automatic chip blow On ▶ Off: Toggles automatic chip blow.
- Water & air / Air / No spray: Selects spray type.
- Scaler Spray On ▶ Off: Toggles scaler spray.
- Scaler:
- Change operation mode: Cycles through operation modes.
- Micromotor:
- Reverse rotation On ▶ Off: Toggles reverse rotation.
- Turbine:
- Quickstart On ▶ Off: Toggles quick start.
- Micromotor Bien-Air MCX:
- RPM limit On ▶ Off: 2 sec. activation to toggle RPM limit.
- Torque limit 25% ▶ 50% ▶ 75% ▶ 100% (= torque limit disabled): 4 sec. activation to cycle through torque limits.
Foot Control Features (Unit controlled instrument activated):
- Micromotor or turbine (standard pedal):
- Drive instrument: Activates the instrument.
- Momentary spray*: Activates spray temporarily.
- Water & air / Air / No spray: Short activation to select spray type.
- Manual chip blow: Long activation.
- Scaler (standard pedal):
- Drive scaler: Activates the scaler.
- Momentary spray*: Activates spray temporarily.
- Spray On ▶ Off: Short activation to toggle spray.
- Micromotor, turbine or scaler:
- Preprogrammed instrument function**: Activates a pre-programmed function.
- Polymerisation light:
- Start ▶ Stop: Activates/deactivates the light.
Intraoral Camera:
- Activate/deactivate intraoral camera (default): Toggles the camera.
- Freeze / Unfreeze: Freezes or unfreezes the image.
- Save still picture: Short activation saves the current image.
Planmeca Intraoral Scanner:
- Activate/deactivate instrument view*: Toggles the instrument view.
- Generate model: Initiates model generation.
- Select scanning mode: Cycles through scanning modes.
- Start scanning: Short activation begins scanning.
- Take image: Long activation captures an image.
Programming Instrument Settings:
- Activate instrument: Select the desired instrument.
- Start programming: Initiate the programming sequence.
- Select function***: Choose from available instrument functions:
- Spray water: 0 (off) - F=100 (full).
- Spray air: 0 (off) - F=100 (full).
- Chip blow water: 0 (off) - F=100 (full).
- Chip blow air: 0 (off) - F=100 (full).
- Intensity of instrument light: L. OFF (off), 70 - 100%.
- Duration of polymerisation cycle: 5 - 100 sec.
- Adjust value: Modify the selected function's parameter.
- Accept new value: Confirm the new setting.
*If enabled by service technician.
