3. Belts with thin spots, burn marks, etc., should be
replaced to eliminate noise, vibration, or erratic PVT
operation. See the Troubleshooting Chart at the end
of this chapter for possible causes.
BELT INSTALLATION
NOTE
Be sure to install belt in the same direction as it was
removed.
1. Loop belt over the drive clutch and over the driven
sheave.
2. BASE and INTL Models ONLY: Loosen the driven
clutch retaining bolt to help spread the clutch
sheaves.
3. LE Models ONLY: Insert the belt removal tool (PN
2877408) into the driven clutch as shown.
NOTE
Make sure the tool is square with the moveable sheave
surface of the driven clutch.
4. Rotate the tool towards the clutch to open the
sheaves.
5. ALL Models: Rotate the driven clutch and walk the
belt into the clutch.
6. Rotate / spin the driven clutch and belt approximately
5-7 times to properly seat the belt in the driven
clutch.
7. BASE and INTL Models ONLY: Torque driven clutch
retaining bolt to specification.
TORQUE
Driven Clutch Retaining Bolt:
36 ft-lbs (49 Nm)
8. Install the outer clutch cover and eight bolts. Torque
bolts to specification.
TORQUE
PVT Outer Clutch Cover bolts:
100 in-lbs (12 Nm)
