Makesurethe ACmainsvoltageiscorrectandisthesameasthatprintedontherearoftheamplifier.Damagecaused
byconnectingtheamplifiertoimproper ACvoltageisnotcoveredbythewarranty.Makesurethepowerswitchisoff
beforemakinganyinputoroutputconnections.
Itisalwaysagoodideatohavethegaincontrolsmutedduringpower-uptopreventspeakerdamageifthereisahigh
signallevelattheinputs.
Whetheryoubuythemormakethem,usegood-qualityinputandspeakercables.Mostintermittentproblemsare
causedbyfaultycables.Usegood-qualityconnectorsandwire,alongwithgoodsolderingtechnique,toensure
troublefreereliability.
1.4 ACMainconnection
The ACMainconnectionismadeviatheCPCtypeconnectorontherearsideofthepanel. Thefigurebelowshows
theconnectiontotheamplifier.Besurethatyour ACmainspowersourcehastherequirementsindicatedin
thismanual.
Isimportanttoconnectthegroundforsafety,donotuseadaptersthatdisabletheground.
TheDIGAMamplifierhasanautomaticpowerfactorcorrectionsystemforaperfectmainsnetwork
interface. Theamplifierisaresistiveloadforthemainsnetwork,minimizingthereactivepowerandtheharmonic
distortiononthecurrent. Thesystemallowsperformancetobemaintainedevenincircumstancesofvaryingthe
mainsvoltage.

1.2Mounting
AllDIGAMamplifierswillmountinastandard19"rack.Fourfrontpanelmountingholesareprovided. YourDIGAM
amplifierusesaforced-aircoolingsystemtomaintainalow,evenoperatingtemperature.Drawnbyaninternalfan,air
entersthroughtheslotsinthefrontpanelandcoursesoverandthroughcomponents. TheDIGAMseriesamplifiers
featurean"intelligent"variable-speedDCfanwhichiscontrolledbyheatsinktemperaturesensingcircuits:thefan
speedwillincreaseonlywhenthetemperatureofeitherheatsinkrequiresit,whichkeepsfannoisetoaminimumand
helpscutdustaccumulationinside.Underextremethermalload,thefanwillforceaverylargevolumeofairthrough
theheatsinks.Ifeitherheatsinkgetstoohot,itssensingcircuitwillreducetheoutputpower.Iftheamplifier
overheats,anothersensingcircuitshutsdownitscircuittocutoffpoweruntilitcoolstoasafetemperature.
Theexhaustcoolingairisforcedoutthroughtherearofthechassis(seefigure1.2.1),somakesurethereisenough
spacearoundthesidesoftheamplifiertoallowtheairtoescape.Ifitisrackmounted,makesuretheexhaustaircan
flowwithoutresistance.Ifyouareusingarackwithclosedbacks,theremustbeatleastonestandardrackspaceof
openinginthefrontoftherackforeveryfouramplifiers. Amplifiersmaybestackeddirectlyontopofeachother(no
spaceneededbetweenunits),startingfromthebottomoftherack.
