2. Pull the trigger to energize the
pilot arc. The cutting arc will start
when the nozzle is moved closer
to the edge of the workpiece
(Fig. 6). When the cutting arc has
cut through the edge of the plate
start moving evenly in the
direction you wish to cut.
2.1 Sparks and debris will spray upwards from the cut until the
plasma arc burns through the metal. The sparks and debris will
then spray downwards from the cut.
2.2 Press and hold the trigger instead of a series of rapid trigger
presses. This can damage the pilot arc system and workpiece.
3. Move the torch along the metal
at a constant speed to cut. Keep
the torch at a 90° angle (Fig. 7).
Slow the cutting speed to allow
the torch to cut through the
metal if sparks start to spray
upward. Moving too slow will
affect the quality of the cut or cause the arc to break up.
4. Release the trigger after the cut is complete. The air flow will
continue for 30 seconds to cool the torch head.
