What to do if QNAP Network Storage Server has a failed drive in RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 6?
    • K
      Karen JohnsonAug 11, 2025
If a drive fails in RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 6, access QuTS hero and navigate to Main Menu > Storage & Snapshots > Storage > Disks/VJBOD to find the failed drive. Replace the failed drive with a new hard drive of equal or greater capacity. After physically removing the failed drive from the NAS and waiting for two beeps (approximately 20 seconds), put the new drive into the drive tray and install it. Then, go to Main Menu > Storage & Snapshots > Storage Space, find the volume containing the new drive, and confirm that the status is 'Rebuilding'.

If Qfinder Pro or myQNAPcloud can't find the NAS during QuTS hero installation, the drives or data may be faulty. To resolve this, power off the NAS, remove all drives, power it back on, and use Qfinder Pro or myQNAPcloud to locate the NAS. Once found, reinsert the drives and proceed with the QuTS hero installation.
