Quicksilver 605PH — System & Component Overview and Operaon
release it from the shut-o switch, which in turn shuts down the engine. This switch is designed to
shut the engine o when the operator of the boat leaves the control staon, either accidently by
falling into the boat, or by being ejected overboard.
The lanyard should be long enough to prevent inadvertent acvaon. Do not let the lanyard become
entangled.
11. SmartCra® System Gauges
The instrument package on your boat includes a SmartCra® tachometer and speedometer mul-
gauge system. By pressing the “mode” buon on the gauge, specic informaon vital to the safe
operaon of the vessel can be displayed. Refer to your SmartCra® gauge owner’s manual for specic
informaon on how to get the most out of the mul-gauge display.
12. Exterior Helm (oponal)
An oponal exterior helm is available which allows for low speed operaon of your boat while in the
cockpit. The exterior helm, located on the forward starboard side of the cockpit consists of a steering
wheel, a hydraulic helm pump, and a mechanical gear shi/throle control unit. In addion, the gear
& throle mechanisms are located in the cockpit bilge, and a helm selector switch is located at the
main helm.
Operaon
At the main helm (located inside the cabin) there is a helm selector switch located on the starboard
side, under the control unit. The helm selector switch mechanically “locks out” the control unit to
make sure that you can only control the engine from one helm. The gear & throle mechanisms are
located in the cockpit bilge.
Helm Control Transfer
When the switch is in horizontal posion, the control is set to be at the main helm. To switch control
from the main helm to the exterior helm, pull out and rotate the handle clockwise 90 degrees unl it
locks into posion. You will now have control of the engine at the exterior helm. To return control
back to the main helm, pull out and rotate the handle counter-clockwise 90 degrees unl it locks into
posion.
