The RadioLink R8FG is an 8-channel 2.4G FHSS receiver designed for professional car drifting and high-voltage servo applications. It features two-way transmission, supporting PWM, PPM, and SBUS signals, and includes an integrated gyroscope. The receiver is splash-proof with an IPX4 waterproof grade.
Function Description:
The R8FG receiver is compatible with a range of RadioLink transmitters, including RC8X, RC6GS V3, RC6GS V2, RC6GS, RC4GS V3, RC4GS V2, RC4GS, RC3S, RC4G, T8FB, and T8S. Each receiver has a unique ID code and must be bound to a transmitter before use. Once bound, the ID code is stored in the transmitter, eliminating the need for re-binding unless a new R8FG is acquired.
Binding Process:
- Place the transmitter and receiver within 60 centimeters of each other.
- Power on both the transmitter and receiver. The R8FG's LED will flash slowly.
- Press and hold the black binding button (ID SET) on the side of the receiver for more than 1 second, then release. The LED will flash quickly, indicating the binding process is active.
- Once the LED stops flashing and remains solid, binding is complete. A signal tower icon will appear on the transmitter's IPS screen. If the LED continues to flash slowly, repeat the steps.
Telemetry:
The R8FG supports real-time telemetry, providing information such as RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), receiver voltage, and model battery voltage. To utilize telemetry, compatible RadioLink transmitters (RC6GS with specific firmware, RC4GS with specific firmware, or RC8X, RC6GS V3/V2, RC4GS V3/V2 with default firmware) are required.
- Signal and RSSI Telemetry: After successful binding, signal strength and RSSI values are displayed on the transmitter's home page. Users can set custom low RSSI warning values, alarm sound types, and vibration types. The RSSI value range for RadioLink transmitters is 0 to -99dBm, with values closer to 0 indicating stronger signals.
- Model Battery and Receiver Voltage Telemetry: The receiver returns its own voltage and can also monitor the model's battery voltage (up to 8S lithium battery, 33.6V). A JST connector cable is provided to connect the telemetry port to the model's battery. The telemetry port is solely for voltage monitoring and cannot power the receiver. Users can set personalized low model battery voltage warning values, typically based on a single cell voltage of 3.7V (e.g., 11.1V for a 3S battery).
Child ID Function:
The RC8X transmitter can bind with multiple R8FG receivers. When Child ID is turned off, the RC8X can control multiple devices simultaneously. When Child ID is turned on, the RC8X controls a specific device based on the selected Child ID. The RC8X supports 16 Child ID groups, each corresponding to a receiver.
- Setting Child ID: In the transmitter's settings, toggle "Child ID mode" from "OFF" to "ON" and set the desired ID number for each receiver. The active Child ID will be displayed on the RC8X's main interface and can be changed using "+" or "-" buttons.
Working Modes:
The R8FG has four working modes, each with different signal outputs:
- Ordinary PWM Mode: All channels output PWM signals.
- SBUS Mode: Channels 1-6 output PWM, Channel 7 outputs PPM, and Channel 8 outputs SBUS.
- Gyro Mode: All channels output PWM signals, with the integrated gyro active.
- Gyro + SBUS Mode: Channels 1-6 output PWM, Channel 7 outputs PPM, and Channel 8 outputs SBUS, with the integrated gyro active.
Working Mode Setting:
- Turn on/off Gyro: Short press the binding button 3 times within 2 seconds. The LED indicator color will change accordingly.
- Gyro Phase Switch: Short press the binding button twice within 2 seconds.
- Turn on/off SBUS: Short press the binding button once. The LED indicator color will change accordingly.
LED Indicator Colors:
- PWM Mode: Green
- Gyro Mode: Red
- SBUS Mode: Blue
- Gyro + SBUS Mode: Red + Blue
- Slow Flashing LED: Indicates no successful binding or signal loss.
Gyro Introduction:
The R8FG features a built-in high-performance gyroscope with a software filter and PID algorithm for precise sensitivity correction and improved stability, enabling professional performance even with drift cars.
- Gyro Enable: The gyro is off by default. Keep the R8FG still when powering on for self-check. Press the binding button three times (within 1 second intervals) to enable the gyro. The red LED will flash three times, then remain solid.
- Gyro Reverse: To correct gyro direction, turn the car right or left and observe wheel movement. If the wheels turn in the opposite direction (e.g., left when turning right), press the binding button twice. The red LED will flash twice, indicating the gyro reverse is corrected.
- Gyro Sensitivity Adjustment: Gyro sensitivity is controlled by channel 8, which is typically mapped to the DL1/PS3 knob switch on the transmitter. Turning the knob clockwise increases sensitivity, and anti-clockwise reduces it. A value of 0 means the gyro function is off. Other switches can also be assigned to control gyro sensitivity.
Important Gyro Notes:
- It is normal for servos to shake when the gyro is active, as it automatically corrects the steering angle. If not needed, the gyro function can be turned off.
- If servos shake excessively when the receiver is still, ensure they are connected to PWM channels (CH1-6) and not PPM/SBUS channels. Also, reduce gyro sensitivity using the DL1 switch.
Important Safety Precautions:
- Do not operate the model in adverse weather conditions or in crowds/illegal areas.
- Ensure trim levers are at 0 and the battery is fully charged before connecting the receiver.
- Check all servos and connections before each run.
- Always turn off the receiver before the transmitter.
- The product is not a toy and is not suitable for children under 14.
- Protect the transmitter from water/moisture to prevent instability.
Maintenance Features:
- Antenna Installation: For optimal signal transmission, keep antennas as straight as possible and at a 90° angle to each other. Position them away from metal conductors, carbon fiber, motors, ESCs, and other interference sources.
- Vibration Protection: Use sponge or foam material to prevent vibration when installing the receiver.
- Environmental Protection: The receiver contains high-precision electronic components. Avoid strong vibration and high temperatures. Pack the receiver in a well-sealed plastic bag with vibration-proof material (foam or rubber cloth) to protect it from humidity and dust, which could cause loss of control.
