TheAISfeatureenablesyoutoreceiveinformationbroadcastby
othervessels,andtoviewthesevesselsastargetsrelativetoyour
boat.TheAISfeatureoni70isstandalone,settingsandalarms
cannotbesharedwithotherAISenabledproductsonyoursystem.
HowAISWorks
AISusesdigitalradiosignalstobroadcast‘real-time’information
betweenvesselsandshore-basedstationsviadedicatedVHFradio
frequencies.Thisinformationisusedtoidentifyandtrackvesselsin
thesurroundingareaandtoprovidefast,automaticandaccurate
collisionavoidancedata.
Note:Itmaynotbemandatoryforvesselstobettedwith
operationalAISequipment.Therefore,youshouldnotassume
thatyourmultifunctiondisplaywillshowALLvesselsinyourarea.
Dueprudenceandjudgementshouldbeexercised.
WithanoptionalAISunitconnectedtoyoursystemyoucan:
•DisplaytargetsforanyotherAIS—equippedvessels.
•Displayvoyageinformationbeingbroadcastbythesetargets,
suchastheirposition,course,speedandrate-of-turn.
•Displaybasicordetailedinformationforeachtargetvessel,
includingsafety-criticaltargetdata.
•Setupasafezonearoundyourvessel.
•ViewAISalarmandsafety-relatedmessages.
