Oxygen (O
2
) Se nso r
The O
2
senso r is a galvanic type senso r. A membrane c overs the c ell
and allows gas to diffuse into the c ell at a rate pro po rtional to the partial
pressure of oxygen. The oxygen reacts in the cell and produces a voltage
proportional to the concentration of oxygen. The voltage is measured by
the GX-2009 s c irc uitry, c o nverted to a measurement of gas c o nc entration,
and displayed on the LCD.
CO and H

S Sensors
The CO and H
2
S sensors are elec tro c hemic al senso rs that c o nsist of
two precious metal electrodes in an acid electrolyte. A gas permeable
membrane covers the sensor face and allows gas to diffuse into the
ele c tro lyte. The g as reac ts in the sens o r and pro duc es a c urre nt
proportional to the concentration of the target gas. The current is
amplified by the GX-2009 s circuitry, converted to a measurement of gas
c o nc e ntratio n, and dis playe d o n the LCD.
LCD
The LCD (liquid c rystal display) is visible thro ugh the GX- 2009 s fro nt
window. Target gas concentrations, the time, battery condition, and alarm
indications are displayed on the LCD. When either of the control buttons
are pressed, the LCD backlight comes on for 30 seconds.
Control Buttons
Two c o ntro l butto ns are lo c ate d be lo w the dis p lay o n e ithe r sid e o f the
front buzzer opening. The AIR button is on the left and the POWER MODE
button is on the right. The func tio ns perfo rmed by the c ontro l buttons are
summarize d in the fo llo wing tab le:
