Calibratio n Mo de
This se c tio n de sc ribe s the GX- 2009 in Calibratio n Mo de . In Calibratio n
Mo de, yo u c an mo ve thro ugh a menu o f sc ree ns to do the fo llowing:
Set the date and time
Perform a fresh air adjustment (part of a calibration)
Perfo rm a span adjustment on all c hannels simultaneo usly (part of a
c alibratio n)
Perform a span adjustment on one channel at a time (part of a
c alibratio n)
Disc harge the batteries with the REFRESH func tio n
NOTE : Yo u c an set the GX-2009 to alert yo u during the startup sequenc e
whe n c alibratio n is due with the Co nfiguratio n Pro gram. Se e the
GX-2009 Configuration Program Operator s Manual for information
on setting the Cal. Limit Dis play parameter.
C AUTIO N : BEFO RE EAC H DAY S US AGE S ENS ITIVITY IN THE
% LEL RANGE MUST BE TESTED ON A KNOWN
CONCENTRATION OF THE COMBUSTIBLE TARGET GAS,
METHANE, EQUIVALENT TO 25 - 50% OF FULL SCALE
CONCENTRATION (The % LEL full sc ale is
100% LEL). ACCURACY MUST BE WITHIN -0 to + 20% OF
ACTUAL. ACCURACY MAY BE CORRECTED BY FOLLOWING
THE CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE COMBUSTIBLE
CHANNEL BELOW.
If the combustible channel passes the above response test and does
no t require c alibratio n, the unit s ho uld s till be c alib rate d pe rio dic ally. The
o ptimum frequenc y o f c alibration depends heavily on how the GX-2009
is used. For example, instruments used daily may need to be calibrated
weekly o r mo nthly, while instruments that are used only a few times a year
may need to be calibrated before each use. Typical calibration frequencies
range fro m monthly to quarterly. Make sure to perfo rm the c o mbustible
channel response test as described above and make sure to develop a
c alib ratio n s c he dule tailo re d to yo ur applic atio n that takes this te s t and
re q uired c alibratio n resulting fro m this te s t into ac c o unt.
