5. LCD Test [5/15 LCD]

1. Verify that repeatedly pressing [Button 2] makes the display cycle
through all dots dark, all dots lighted, and four-level grayscale bar. Verify
that all dots light up and go dark, and that the four grayscale levels are
expressed.

2. Press [Button 3] to advance to the next item.
6. LCD Backlight Test [6/15 BACKLIGHT]

1. Press [Button 2] and verify that the backlight lights up and goes dark.
2. Press [Button 3] to advance to the next item.
7. HH CTRL (Hi-Hat Control) Test

1. Use a stereo cable to connect the foot pedal (FD-8 or the like) to the HH
CTRL jack.
When the connection is detected, OK is displayed for LVL_HI->.
2. Slowly and gradually depress the foot pedal, and verify that the on-
screen number decreases a little at a time.
When the pedal has been fully depressed, OK is displayed for LVL_LO->,
and execution automatically advances to the next item.
* A determination of LVL_HI->OK is made for 699 through 854, and a
determination of LVL_LO->OK is made for values less than 84.
8. Foot SW (Switch) Test [8/15 FOOT SW]

1. Using the Y-cable (PCS-31L), connect the two FS-5U units to the FOOT
SW jack.
* Set the POLARITY switches on the FS-5U units to the “jack” setting as shown
below.

* OK may appear and execution may advance to the next test even when the plug
has only been inserted, but this is caused by mistaken detection due to noise
during insertion, and does not indicate an abnormality. Press [QUICK] +
[ERASE] to go back and retest.
2. Depress the FS-5U units one at a time.
OK is displayed at the corresponding on-screen locations for each. If a
short occurs, NG (“not OK”) is displayed.
When the two FS-5U units have been detected correctly, execution
automatically advances to the next item.
