2.4 Intended use
The intended use for ROSE bikes is divided into five different categories – ranging from use on paved roads through
to downhill or freeride use. The bikes must only be used in accordance with their intended purpose/use. Otherwise,
the user takes responsibility.
A sticker on the frame of your bike will show you the intended use.

Category 1
Includes all bikes and EPACs that should only be used on normal, paved roads, where the tyres
are touching the ground at the average speed and there are only occasional drops.
Typical range for the average speed: 15 to 25 km/h
Maximum recommended height for drops/jumps: <15 cm
Recommended rider skills: no particular rider skills necessary

Category 2
Includes all bikes and EPACs that can be used in conditions described under category 1, as well
as on unpaved roads and gravel paths with moderate inclines and descents. These conditions can
lead to contact with uneven terrains and the tyre repeatedly losing contact with the ground. Drops
are limited to a height of 15 cm or less.
Typical range for the average speed: 15 to 25 km/h
Maximum recommended height for drops/jumps: <15 cm
Recommended rider skills: no particular rider skills necessary

Category 3
Includes all bikes and EPACs that can be used in conditions described under category 1 and 2, as
well as on rough trails, uneven and unpaved streets, as well as difficult terrains and undeveloped
paths. Also applies to bikes that require technical knowledge to ride. Jumps and drops should not
exceed 60 cm.
Typical range for the average speed: not relevant
Maximum recommended height for drops/jumps: <60 cm
Recommended rider skills: technical skills and practice required

Category 4
Includes all bikes and EPACs that can be used in conditions described under category 1, 2 and
3, as well as for downhill rides on unpaved roads at speeds under 40 km/h. Jumps should not
exceed 120 cm.

Recommended rider skills: technical skills, practice and good bike control required

4, and that are designed for extreme jumps or downhill rides on unpaved roads at speeds of more
than 40 km/h or a combination of the above.

Recommended rider skills: extreme technical skills, practice and bike control required
