Locate the halyard elastic take up.

Tie knot #3 in one end.
Pass the other end through the top
block of the main halyard purchase
system.
Pass the end of the elastic through
the boom gooseneck tting as shown.
Pass the end through the centre of the jib halyard
purchase block and tie knot #3 in the tail.
