5.3 - Hoisting the Mainsail
a)
b)
c)
Shackle the main halyard to
the head of the mainsail.
Hoist the mainsail by pulling on the line which comes out of the port side of the
mast.
When the mainsail nears to top of the mast, a rope loop will emerge from the
hole in the mast.
Hook the snap shackle on the block (added in step 4.7b) onto this rope loop and
continue to hoist the sail to the top of the mast.
Put the top of the main sail into the opening in the
mast track, just above the gooseneck.
