How to stop product leaking through the exhaust of Sandpiper Water Pump?
    • V
      Virginia LivingstonAug 18, 2025
If you notice product leaking through the exhaust of your Sandpiper Water Pump, it's likely due to diaphragm failure or loose diaphragm plates. Replace the diaphragms, check for any damage, and ensure the diaphragm plates are tight. Also, check for excessive inlet pressure or air pressure if the diaphragm is stretched around the center hole or bolt holes. Consult the Chemical Resistance Chart for compatibility with products, cleaners, temperature limitations, and lubrication.

Why does my Sandpiper Water Pump cycle only once?
    • K
      Kevin SanchezAug 21, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump cycles only once, it could be due to a few reasons. Increase the inlet air pressure to the pump if it's deadheading. Install gaskets with holes properly aligned if the air valve or intermediate gaskets are installed incorrectly. Remove the pilot valve and inspect actuator plungers if the actuator plunger is bent or missing.

What causes premature diaphragm failure in my Sandpiper SB1 Water Pump?
    • T
      thomas97Oct 30, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump is experiencing premature diaphragm failure, it could be due to several reasons. Enlarge the pipe diameter on the suction side of the pump to address cavitation. Move the pump closer to the product, raise the pump, or place it on top of the tank to reduce inlet pressure if there's excessive flooded suction pressure. Consider installing a back-pressure device or adding an accumulation tank or pulsation dampener. Consult the Chemical Resistance Chart for compatibility with products, cleaners, temperature limitations, and lubrication if there's misapplication or chemical/physical incompatibility. Check the Operating Manual to check for correct part and installation if the diaphragm plates are incorrect or installed backward, incorrectly, or worn. Ensure outer plat...

Why is my Sandpiper SB1 Water Pump running sluggish and stalling?
    • J
      james62Nov 3, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump is running sluggishly, stalling, and the flow is unsatisfactory, several factors could be at play. Start by checking for over-lubrication and set the lubricator on the lowest possible setting or remove it, as these units are designed for lube-free operation. Address potential icing by removing the muffler screen, de-icing it, and reinstalling it, and consider installing a point of use air drier. Ensure proper airflow by cleaning clogged manifolds. Increase the inlet air pressure to the pump if it's deadheading (system pressure meets or exceeds air supply pressure). Check the suction conditions and move the pump closer to the product if cavitation is occurring on the suction side. Inspect the air line size, length, and compressor capacity to ensure there's enoug...

What to do if my Sandpiper SB1 will not operate?
    • J
      James TaylorNov 7, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump isn't operating or cycling, start by checking if the pump is over-lubricated and set the lubricator on the lowest possible setting or remove it, as the units are designed for lube-free operation. Ensure there is sufficient air supply by checking the air line size and length, as well as the compressor capacity. Disassemble and inspect the main air distribution valve, pilot valve, and pilot valve actuators to check the air distribution system. Check for inadvertently closed discharge line valves and clean discharge manifolds/piping if the discharge line is blocked or the manifolds are clogged. Increase the inlet air pressure to the pump if it's deadheading. Remove the muffler screen, clean or de-ice it, and reinstall it if the air exhaust muffler is blocked. Disa...

Why is my Sandpiper SB1 Water Pump cycling but not priming?
    • J
      Jesse KempNov 12, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump is cycling but not priming or producing flow, there might be several reasons. First, check the suction condition and move the pump closer to the product if cavitation is suspected on the suction side. Disassemble the wet end of the pump and manually dislodge any obstruction in the check valve pocket if a check valve is obstructed. Clean out around the valve ball cage and valve seat area, and replace the valve ball or valve seat if damaged. Use heavier valve ball material. Inspect check valves and seats for wear and proper setting, replacing if necessary. Remove or flush any obstruction in the suction line and clear all suction screens or strainers if the suction line is blocked. For lifts exceeding 20’ of liquid, filling the chambers with liquid will prime the ...

What causes unbalanced cycling in a Sandpiper Water Pump?
    • L
      Lauren CookeNov 25, 2025
If your Sandpiper Water Pump is experiencing unbalanced cycling, several factors could be contributing. For lifts exceeding 20’ of liquid, filling the chambers with liquid will prime the pump in most cases if there is excessive suction lift. Ensure the suction line meets or exceeds pump connections if the suction line is undersized. Disassemble pump chambers and inspect for diaphragm rupture or loose diaphragm plate assembly if pumped fluid is in the air exhaust muffler. Visually inspect all suction-side gaskets and pipe connections for suction side air leakage or air in product. Disassemble the wet end of the pump and manually dislodge any obstruction in the check valve pocket if a check valve is obstructed. Inspect check valves and seats for wear and proper setting, replacing if necessar...
