3.12 Fillingthemower’senginewithoil
For transport reasons, your new mower’s engine does not contain oil when
despatchedfromthefactory.Beforeuse,ensurethatthemowercontainsoil.
WARNING:Neverruntheenginewithoutoilevenforashortperiod.
• Always use a high quality oil of API SF
standardsandSAE30or15W40viscosity.
• When filling the engine with oil, position
themoweronafirm,levelsurfaceUnscrew
the oil filler cap and remove
the dipstick
(fig.5).
• Slowly pour in the oil. The correct capacity
oftheengine’soilsumpis650ml.
• Insert the dipstick up to the filler neck but
donotscrewitin.Removethedipstickand
read the oil level by holding the dipstick
horizontally.
• Theoil
levelmustreachthemaximummarkonthedipstick(fig.6)
• Iftoomuchoilhasbeenaddedtotheengine,theexcesscanbedrained
out by tipping the mower onto its side with the air filter and
carburettoruppermost.
NOTE: THE OIL FILLER CAP MUST BE SCREWED IN FULLY BEFORE STARTING
THE ENGINE. NEVER REMOVE THE FILLER CAP WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING.
