2.1 Decreasing the thermal load of the system
When a reduction of flow and/or the compressed air temperature occurs in the inlet of the SRS - Air Dryer, there is a tendency for pressure
and refrigeration system temperature to reduce, which can freeze the condensate before being drained.
To solve this problem, the SRS - Air Dryer provides a hot gas “by-pass” system. Whenever there are situations which may provoke frozen
condensate inside the heat exchanger, the by-pass system is activated to reroute part of the hot refrigerant fluid to the evaporator to avoid
frozen condensate and the obstruction of the compressed air flow. The hot gas “by-pass” controls the amount of refrigerant fluid that will
return to the low pressure circuit to avoid its excess.
2.2 Low pressure ow from the compressor
If the room temperature is excessively low, there is a tendency for reduced flow pressure from the compressor, which will hinder the “by-
-pass” activation and expansion device in the system. The extremely low condensate pressure will hinder the return of the oil in the refrige-
ration circuit to the hermetic compressor. A switch is used to avoid this problem which turns off the condenser fan when the high pressure
in the refrigeration system goes below normal. This component is a standard feature in all SRS Line dryers.
2.3 Safety switch
There are two other switches installed in the refrigeration system in SRS Line Air Dryers, which turn off the equipment whenever the pres-
sure does not comply with standard operating conditions of the system. The high pressure switch is installed in all dryer models. However,
the low pressure one is installed starting in the SRS 130 model.
When the Air Dryer stops running without any apparent reason, this safety pressure switch may be shutting
down this equipment or the temperature dropped below -1 °C. When this kind of situation occurs, it means
the Air Dryer module is operating in conditions of risk for the refrigeration system, and it is necessary to contact the nearest SCHULZ
