How to fix vibration or noisy operation in my Shop Fox Sander?
    • J
      Jamie WagnerAug 16, 2025
If your Shop Fox Sander is vibrating or operating noisily, the V-belt might be loose, worn, damaged, or misaligned; inspect or replace it and realign the pulleys. A pulley could be loose; realign or replace the shaft, pulley, set screw, and key. Check for any loose motor or components; inspect and replace damaged bolts or nuts, and retighten with thread-locking fluid if necessary. If the motor fan is rubbing on the fan cover, fix or replace the fan cover and replace any loose or damaged fan. Finally, the motor bearings might be at fault; test by rotating the shaft—rotational grinding or a loose shaft indicates the need for bearing replacement.

Why won't my Shop Fox Sander start or why does the breaker trip?
    • S
      Susan AllenOct 26, 2025
If your Shop Fox Sander doesn't start or the breaker trips, several factors could be at play. First, make sure the switch disabling key is installed. Check that the power supply voltage is correct and reset the circuit breaker on the machine. Also, ensure the power supply circuit is correctly sized and free of shorts; reset the breaker or replace the fuse if needed. Other potential issues include a faulty start capacitor (test and replace if necessary), a problem with the centrifugal switch/contact points (adjust or replace if possible), or broken, disconnected, corroded, or improperly connected wiring (check and fix). The variable-speed dial or the circuit board could also be at fault (inspect/repair/replace if needed). Finally, the motor itself might be faulty, requiring testing, repair,...

What to do if my Shop Fox Sander stalls or is underpowered?
    • B
      Brian HoustonNov 6, 2025
If your Shop Fox Sander stalls or seems underpowered, consider the workpiece material. Ensure you're only sanding wood or wood products with moisture content below 20%. Reduce the sanding depth and decrease the feed rate or sanding speed. Check if the machine is undersized for the task. Clean or replace the sandpaper, and reduce the feed rate or sanding depth. Inspect, tension, or replace the V-belt and align the pulleys. Clean the motor and let it cool, reducing the workload, then reset the breaker if the motor overheated. Other possible causes include a faulty run capacitor (test, repair, or replace), issues with the centrifugal switch/contact points (adjust or replace if available), or faulty motor bearings (test, repair, or replace). The motor itself might also be at fault, requiring t...
