Why does my Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass stop during operation?
    • Y
      ylongAug 16, 2025
Your Side-Power windlass might stop during operation due to several reasons: * The current limitation has triggered, indicating an overload. Try again with a reduced load; a mechanical failure may be the cause if the windlass is lightly loaded. * The control unit temperature sensor is too warm. Allow the controller to cool down before trying again. * The motor is too hot. The windlass controller calculates motor temperature depending on load and run time; let the windlass cool down. * The internal protection of the controller has triggered, possibly due to excessive surrounding temperature and high load. * A continuous "OUT" or "IN" signal has been active for more than 5 minutes. This is a protection against possible faulty control signals; re-activation is possible.

Why does my Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass have poor performance?
    • K
      Kelly GrayAug 19, 2025
Poor performance of your Side-Power windlass can be due to the voltage dropping below 9V. Check the batteries. Also, measure the battery voltage while operating the windlass. If the voltage measures below 11V/22V, allow the batteries to charge. If the battery voltage is acceptable, measure the voltage on the motor terminals; cable voltage drop should be less than 1V when the motor is running.

How to troubleshoot a Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass that does not operate?
    • M
      Michelle JacobsAug 22, 2025
If your Side-Power windlass isn't operating, check that the main switch/breaker is engaged, inspect the battery fuses, visually inspect cables and verify that terminals are tight, and measure the battery voltage. Also, ensure the panel/remote control is turned on.

What to do if Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass releases anchor but stops immediately when pressing "IN"?
    • Z
      zcarterAug 26, 2025
If your Side-Power windlass releases the anchor but stops immediately when pressing "IN", the battery might be in poor condition. It may measure 12/24V when the windlass is not in use but experience a significant voltage drop when the motor starts. These voltage drops can lead to false triggering of the end stop sensor.

How to fix Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass winding past endstop?
    • M
      Melissa MillerAug 27, 2025
To fix your Side-Power windlass that winds past the end stop, check that the end stop wire wound around the rope is intact. Pull the rope with the end stop wire over the end stop sensor and verify that the "End Stop" LED lights up. Adjust the sensor closer to the rope if necessary.

What to check if Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass releases anchor, but does not wind in?
    • C
      Cody FloresAug 30, 2025
If your Side-Power windlass releases the anchor but does not wind in, check that the end stop sensor is not active. This is indicated by the "End Stop" LED on the control unit or the LED built into the sensor. Also, check the sensor connections on the control unit; the sensor LED should not be lit if no metal object is present in front of it.

What to do if free fall is not engaged when pressing "OUT" or motor is running but gypsy is not turning on Side-Power Boating Equipment?
    • S
      sherriwarnerSep 2, 2025
If free fall is not engaged when pressing "OUT" or the motor is running but the gypsy is not turning on your Side-Power equipment, swap motor cables D1 and D2 on the control unit.

Why does my Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass only run for 0.5 seconds when pressing "IN"?
    • H
      Hector HillSep 5, 2025
If your Side-Power windlass only runs for 0.5 seconds when pressing "IN", check the control panel connections. The signals for "IN" and "OUT" might be swapped.

Why Side-Power Boating Equipment windlass operates, but rope is not wound in?
    • C
      connor80Sep 7, 2025
If your Side-Power windlass operates, but the rope is not wound in, it might be due to the windlass being mounted incorrectly, causing the rope to slip in the gypsy.
