4.7 Pipe system topology
Choose a suitable topology for the pipe system, taking the following criteria into
account:
Property Note
Pipe length Short pipe length = short response time
Number of bends Fewer bends = better laminar flow
Number of branches Each branch connects airflows
Number of aspirating holes The number of aspirating holes can be used to
adjust the sensitivity to the room
System balance More pipes = better system balance
Distribution The shorter the pipes, the better the distribution of
aspirating holes
Size of the aspirating hole in
the end cap
The aspirating hole in the end cap affects the
airflow in the pipe

4.8 Pipe system
The diameters of the aspirating holes and the holes in the end caps are calculated
using the software 'FXS2056 ASD Asyst‑Tool V3' in order to achieve balanced
airflow in the pipe system.
