MIB files for your SNMP tools
If you use an SNMP tool, you will find the MIB files relevant to the CP in the STEP 7 installation
in the following folder:
<Drive>\<Installation folder>\Siemens\Step7\S7DATA\snmp\mib
For the Automation System MIB, for example, these are the following files:
automationPS.mib
automationSmi.mib
automationSystem.mib
automationTC.mib
Further information
You will find further information in the manual /6/ (Page 104).
6.13 Ping: Permitted length of ICMP packets
Pings with a packet size of more than 1000 bytes are evaluated as an attack and filtered by
the CP. This response is intentional and improves the robustness of the CP in an industrial
environment.
A ping simply serves to check reachability. There is therefore no need to support extremely
long ICMP packets.
6.14 Use in the H system
S7 connections as H connections via ISO-on-TCP - adapting the monitoring time
When using the CP in the H system V4.5, you also have the option of creating fault-tolerant
S7 connections via ISO-on-TCP. When operating large numbers of connections via the CP, it
may be necessary to increase the monitoring time. Otherwise it is possible that some
connections cannot be established.
Depending on the firmware version of the CPU you are using, set the monitoring time with
the following method:
H CPU with firmware as of V6.0
The setting is made in the properties parameters of the configured connection.
H CPU with firmware < V6.0
The setting is made in the properties parameters of the CP.
