9. Basic operation
9.1 Power supply
DANGER! Risk of electric
shock!
~ Only connect the mains plug to a prop-
erly installed and easily accessible wall
socket whose voltage corresponds to
the specifications on the rating plate.
The wall socket must still be easily ac-
cessible after the device is plugged in.
1. Assemble the device for the desired
function.
2. Check that the speed control12 is set
to 0 (off).
3. Plug the mains plug14 into a suitable
wall socket. The wall socket must still be
easily accessible after connection.
4. Pull out the mains plug14 before clean-
ing the device.
9.2 Safety functions
The device has several safety functions,
which are described below.
Functions only when correctly
assembled
The device only works when either the cov-
er8 is mounted (for the mixing tools20/
21/22) or the lid2 is correctly mounted on
the blender jug5.
Functions only when the drive
arm is lowered
The device will only work if the drive
arm19 is correctly engaged in the lower
position and the unlock button11 has fully
popped out.
Overheating protection
The device has an overheating protection
system. If the motor becomes too hot, the de-
vice automatically switches itself off:
1. Switch off the device.
2. Pull out the mains plug14.
3. Allow the device to cool down to room
temperature.
When the device has cooled down suffi-
ciently, it can be switched on again.
9.3 Switching the device on/
off and selecting speed
WARNING! Risk of material dam-
age!
~ The mixing mechanism must not be op-
erated continuously for longer than
10 minutes, or the blender for longer
than 3 minutes. You must then allow the
device to cool down to room tempera-
ture.
1. Switch the device on by turning the
speed control12 to the right.
2. Start at a slightly lower speed, and
slowly increase to the desired speed
(see “Overview of functions” on
page 36).
3. Reduce the speed to 1 - 2 when you are
adding ingredients during operation
through the filling opening10 or the re-
fill opening3.
4. Set the speed control12 to 0 to switch
the device off.
NOTES:
Above all, the ideal speed depends on
the consistency of the material being
blended. The more liquid the contents,
the faster you can blend them.
The device may move slightly while you
are processing large quantities of
dough.
