6.3.5 Alternate method for testing sensors
The following test method is suitable for functional checks of sensor bases during installation, however, testing with smoke must be
performed to comply with NFPA requirements.
For all sensor bases, position the 553-810 Magnet Tester ½ inch to ¾ inch, or 12 millimeters to 20 millimeters counterclockwise from the
visible LED on the sensor base, see Figure 24.
For MAPNET II devices, testing a sensor using a magnet reports a value of 255 for actual/peak. This does not occur for IDNet devices. Clear
the peak value after testing.
