NOTE: See input shaft assembly in step one above.
29. Install the input shaft assembly into case. Install inter-
nal retaining ring to case. Grease the shaft and
install the seal.
30. Coat range arm seal with grease and install seal on
range arm shaft.
31. Coat range arm bore of case with grease. Place shift
arm into case. Install range arm into case and
through shift arm.
32. Drive two roll pins into each side of shift arm and into
range arm shaft.

NOTE: The following procedure is to measure input shaft
backlash and no gasket sealant is required.
33. Install roller bearing on end of shift shaft.
34. Install washer on case side of roller bearing, or alter-
natively, into bearing bore in right side transaxle
case.

35. Install reduction shaft, fork shaft, and shift shaft sub
assembly into right side transaxle case.
NOTE: Be sure fork shaft washers remain on shaft
36. Install left side transaxle case cover (with no shims in
reduction shaft bearing bore). Install four or five cap-
screws to hold case halves together (around reduc-
tion shaft).
37. Using a dial indicator on the end of reduction shaft,
measure reduction shaft side play and record results.
38. Use dial indicator to measure end play of shift shaft
at brake spline.
Shift Shaft End Play: 0–0.85 mm
39. Use dial indicator to measure end play of fork shaft.
Fork Shaft End Play: 0–0.82 mm
40. Remove capscrews and left side cover.
