SPECIALSTITCHES
The Spedal Stitches on your machine have a varietyof practi-
caland decorativeuses. Inthis section are recommended
applicationsfor each stitch.However, these stitchescan be
used formany other sewing projects.
ADJUSTING STITCH WIDTH
Towiden or narrowa Spedal Stitchpattem, move thestitch
width lever off Straight Stitch,toward any other width settingat
the fight.
ADJUSTING STITCH LENGTH
The stitchlength indicator isnumbered 0 to 4. The area
between 0 and I will produce very dense stitching.For more
open stitching, slide the stitch lengthlever anywhere from 2 to
4.When sewing special color codedstitches.The length
MUST be set in the 3-1/2to 4 area.
ADJUSTING THREAD TENSION
Some Special Stitchpattems may require looser thread ten-
sionthan others.Tofind the proper tensionfor your applica-
tion, make a test sample with the thread and fabric you will be
using.
ADJUSTING STITCH BALANCE
You can adjust the appearanceof special colorcoded stitch
patternson the display panel, byturning the Stitch balance
ring (1)behind the pattern selectordial (2).
Acorrectly balanced Fagoting Stitchshould appear as illus-
trated (3).
When stitches are too close together (4),separate them by
turning the stitchbalance ring to the fight.
When stitches are too far apart (5), bring them closer
together by tuming the stitchbalance ring tothe left.
