The brake lamps may not be functioning and thus no longer
working when braking.

is not operational, ESP

is unable to stabilise the
vehicle.
The danger of skidding and having an accident increases.

Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible,
paying
attention
to road and traffic conditions. Do not con-
tinue driving under any circumstances.

Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 138).

Vehicles with a colour display: observe the additional dis-
play messages.

Check that the brake lamps are working.
If the brake lamps are not working:

Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
