: Stand the installing tool, sleeve
downward, on a flat surface
(wooden board) and press
vertically downwards until the
sleeve butts against the tool’s
shoulder.

: Remove the sleeve and slip it
onto the other end of the shank.
Inner pin must point towards flat
face.

: Apply the installing tool to the
piston boss, hold the piston
steady, center the tool shank
exactly and press home until the
snap ring slips into the groove.

Fit the snap ring so that its gap is on
the piston’s vertical axis (it must
point either up or down).
Install all other parts in the reverse
sequence.

– Remove the piston, b 7.9.4
– Remove rings from piston.
– Use a piece of old piston ring to
scrape the grooves (arrows)
clean.

– Install new piston rings.
– Check that piston ring gaps are
offset 120 degrees.
Install in the reverse sequence.
