Chain brake maintenance
The chain brake is subject to normal
wear and tear. It must therefore be
checked and serviced regularly by
trained personnel (e.g. STIHL dealer) at
the following intervals:
At temperatures below +10°C
Preheat the carburetor
: Turn twist lock above rear handle
90° counterclockwise.
: Lift off the carburetor box cover
vertically.
: Pry the shutter (1) out of the
carburetor box cover and slide it into
the slot (2) at the bottom end of the
carburetor box cover.
The shutter must be returned to the
"summer" position at temperatures
above +20°C. This is necessary to
avoid engine running problems and
overheating.
Full-time professional
usage: every 3
months
Semi-professional
usage (farm and
construction industry): every 6
months
Hobby and occasional
usage: every 12
months
