SECTION 7 TROUBLE SHOOTING & FAULTS
7.1 THE DEW POINT IS TOO HIGH
Possible cause Solution
Operating pressure too low, air flow capacity
too high
Increase operating pressure, reduce air flow
capacity
Air inlet temperature too high Reduce temperature, or connect an air cooler
upstream
Differential pressure at the pre-filter too high Check filter element for impurities, change if
necessary
Condensate drain is not functioning Check operation of the condensate drain and
replace if necessary
Desiccant is soiled or has disintegrated Check pre-filter for impurities and either change
the filter element and change the complete
desiccant and dispose of the old desiccant
Volume of regeneration gas too low Check regeneration orifice for soiling, clean if
necessary; check operation of silencer and blow-
off valve, replace if necessary.
Back pressure in regenerating vessel Check if mufflers are clogged or if there is any
valve leak.
7.2 THE ADSORPTION DRYER DOES NOT SWITCH OVER
Possible cause Solution
The Inlet valve combination does not open
or switch
Check the electrical functioning of the solenoids
and replace either the solenoid or the complete
valve combination
PLC does not function Check PLC and the fuse in the control cabinet
The vessel is not pressurized Check whether the blow-off valves are dirty and
replace these if necessary; Check the electrical
functioning of the solenoids and replace either the
solenoid or the complete valve combination
The regeneration orifice is obstructed Clean or replace the regeneration orifice
Pressure switch is defective or set at
wrong pressure “DDS system only”
Change pressure switch or adjust to correct
pressure “DDS system only”
