Minimizing Radiation Damage
The electronics are located between the “KEEP DIRECT BEAM ABOVE THIS LINE” marking and
the cable connection ports. To minimize damage to the electronics:
Do not expose the device electronics to the direct beam.
Do not leave MapCHECK 3 on the couch exposing to direct radiation during delivery system
warm up.
If MapCHECK 3 is stored in the treatment room, ensure it is not exposed to direct radiation
when the gantry is rotated.
Avoid frequent use of thick buildup which may cause scattered radiation and damage the
electronics.
Inspection
Periodically inspect MapCHECK 3 housing, casing, cables, connectors, and all ancillary parts for
damage. If any mechanical or electrical degradation is suspected, if errors are suspected, or if the
device cannot be calibrated to provide consistent measurements, discontinue use and contact
Sun Nuclear Support. See
