Chapter 3: Installation and Setup
Firmware
The rmware for SSE-G3748 series Ethernet switches resides on a chip on the PCB.
Firmware Upgrading Procedures
SONiC rmware can be installed in one of two methods:
1. From within a running SONiC image using the sonic-installer CLI command.
2. From ONIE
Please refer the Supermicro SONiC conguration guide document for details about each of
the above mentioned methods.
3.2 SSE-G3748/D/R/DR-SMIS
Installation
To install SSE-G3748/D/R/DR-SMIS Ethernet switches, use the procedure below.
Installing the Switch
1. Carefully unpack the switch from its shipping container and verify that all parts are
present.
2. Install the mounting ears onto the side of the switch using a screwdriver.
3. Mount the switch into your rack assembly.
Conguring the Switch Module
The SSE-G3748/D/R/DR-SMIS Ethernet switch module can be congured using two methods.
You may congure it:
Through the web-based management utility
Directly through a command line interface (using a SSH or a telnet or a serial console)
The management utility accesses the switch module through any web browser. To access
the switch directly, use the command line interface.
Any port may be congured as up (active) or down (inactive). All ports are active by default.
