1. Water and wind conditions permitting, stop
the engine.
2. Tilt the motor out of the water and remove
any debris like seaweed, plastic bags or
sand that may have blocked the water
intakes.
3. Lower the motor into the water, being sure
that water intakes are immersed, and restart
it.
4. If equipped with multi-function gauge:
Check (A) that water discharges from the
pilot hole and (B) that “Overheat” is not dis-
played on screen.
Be aware that “Overheat” is displayed on
screen again if engine temperature rises
abnormally.
If equipped with monitor-tachometer:
Check (A) that water discharges from the
pilot hole and (B) that the red TEMP lamp is
no longer lit.
Be aware that the red TEMP lamp may light
again if engine temperature rises abnor-
mally.
If either of the above situations arises, your
authorized Suzuki Marine Dealer must be
consulted as soon as possible.
NOTE:
If pilot hole water discharge is sufficient, the
CAUTION system may still operate until engine
temperature decreases. Run engine in NEU-
TRAL only
until the caution systems are can-
celled.
NOTE:
If the engine is operated beyond the maximum
trim position, the water intake holes may be
above the water line. In this situation, the over-
heat caution system may activate.
NOTICE
Operating the engine with the Overheat Cau-
tion System activated can result in severe
engine damage.
If the Overheat Caution System activates, stop
the engine as soon as possible, wind and
water conditions permitting, and inspect the
engine according to the above instructions.
Consult your authorized Suzuki marine dealer
if you cannot correct the problem.
CHECK THERMOSTAT ALERT SYSTEM
This ALERT SYSTEM activates when the ther-
mostat breaks down and the engine tempera-
ture does not rise up to the proper temperature
after engine start-up.
If equipped with monitor-tachometer:
If this system activates, the red TEMP lamp will
flash.
If equipped with multi-function gauge:
If this system activates, the “Check Thermostat”
and caution alarm icon (the color of the icon is
blue) are indicated on the screen.
The “Check Thermostat” indication clears when
any of the button is pressed in the gauge. How-
ever, the caution alarm icon is displayed until
the eliminating the cause.
In order to cancel this ALERT SYSTEM, quickly
stop the engine and consult with SUZUKI
marine dealer.
