underestimate the importance of
these checks. Perform all of them
before riding the motorcycle.
NOTE: Check switch operation before
riding when ambient temperature is
below zero.

Checking maintenance items
when the engine is running can be
hazardous. You could be severely
injured if your hands or clothing
get caught in moving engine
parts.
Shut the engine off when perform-
ing maintenance checks, except
when checking the lights, engine
stop switch, and throttle.
