3.1 Connecting to ARC SDP/ARC HSDK
To communicate with the ARC SDP serial interface (UART) or with the ARC HSDK serial interface, you
need a terminal application using the following settings:
Serial line: Use the USB Serial Port number
The following example describes one method to discover the USB Serial Port number.
Speed: 115200
You can use PuTTY as terminal application, see the following example. PuTTY is an exe file that does not
require installation.
Example
To run PuTTY:
1. Connect the USB (standard B) cable from the ARC USB connector to the PC.
If you are using an ARC HSDK connect a micro USB cable from the ARC HSDK to the PC.
The ARC SDP system board must be powered on, see “Hardware Setup” on page 16.
2. To establish a connection between PuTTY and the ARC SDP or ARC HSDK system board, you need
to know the USB Serial Port number used by the system.
a. Open the Windows Device Manager. In either the Start Search or Run box, enter the following
command:
mmc devmgmt.msc
b. Expand the “Ports (COM & LPT)” list.
Note
NoteNoteNote
Download PuTTY from http://www.putty.org/. Select the version according to your PC’s
specifications and run the PuTTY.exe file.
