BASIC Keywords
FILES
Statement
FILES
[pathname]
Displays the names of the files and directories on
a
disk.
Pathname
is
a standard file specification
as
described in Chapter
1.
If you specify
pathname,
BASIC lists all files which match that
pathname. If you omit
pathname,
BASIC lists all files and direc-
tories in the current directory on the current drive.
Pathname
may contain question marks and asterisks
as
wild cards. See the
section on wild cards in Chapter
1
for more information.
If you specify
a
drive as part of
pathname,
then BASIC lists all
files that match the specified pathname on
that
drive.
If you omit the filename when specifying
pathname,
BASIC lists
all files and directories in the specified directory.
If you omit the path in
pathname,
FILES looks for the file in the
current directory.
